                While other states are going on Solar streets lights our Doctor governor sees those as old model and opt for that which the state will ease millions monthly for contracts of Fuel supply to his wife,

            Recently the state again started the beautification of many a  round about  in almost all the towns in the state ,and behold the contracts got to the same sources from which the contractrsss made several millions of naira.

              This seem to be the  Story in the lips of many in the Bayelsa state capital following the reported  bombing of the home of the  Deputy Governor of the state several months back in Yanogoa with several Bombs seen in the Premises of the  White Eagle Hotel where most demonstrators belonging to the Save Nigerian Group (SNG) where said to have lodged prior to their planned Demonstration against the Government of Bayelsa state over unrivalled Corruption and the present fleeing and escape of most of the top opposition Political Figure in the state in what has now  become a volatile situation in the state where none seem to be  free.

                It will be recalled  that some months  back several Bomb Explosion shocked the whole state and some car bomb planted in diverse part of the state with attempt made at the Hotel of the wife of the ex  Deputy Governor, other months  back there was a failed   plot to kill the chairman of the People Democratic Party in the state over his refusal to attend a re schedule PDP meet in the state capital and  the Political aide to the PDP chairmen  fingered those who felt annoyed over his boss refusal to attend the rescheduled meet as those behind the attack and not quite some  weeks  again the  ex Deputy Governor of the state seem to be again on the receiving end for daring to disagree with the executive governor and plotting to context  a senatorial seat under Labour Party  and got a nine hour siege on the Ex Deputy Governor home in what many describe as killer squard and the Police claimed are its men working on a four years ago killing accusations.

 Recalled that same killing statement was used by men  that got  his Petrol Station blown up with the use of very sophisticated Dynamite causing many in the state to ask if a  Killer squad is on ground in the state taking in to consideration the prevalence of many ex Militants in the core Ijaw State.

                  That the Economic and Financial Crime Commissions is still working on the root in Bayelsa ands getting more Damming discoveries seem true after all if the monumental plunder of the Bayelsa state funds and the total loot returned to the state from the Alamayeiseya plea Bargain is anything to go by.

                     The part of the loot which was put at about 3.2 billion Naira which was said to have been returned to Bayelsa state Governor via a cheque by  late President Umoru Yar’adua last year is no where to be found in the state or accounted for.

                    The loot which the Governor Personally lay claim to and spent personally is said to be another latest discovery of some more looting that the Bayelsa governor is said to be totally involved in.

                      According to yours truly investigations, the 3.1 billion was said to have been earn marked for the building of what the governor termed Transparency Plaza in the state Capital but today, the un budgettted cash put at about 3.1 billion is said to have been laundered by the Governor and his commissioner for Finance to the United kingdom.

NIGHTLIFE IN YENAGOA

 

          Unlike cities like Lagos, Abuja and Benin City where nigh life has been brought to a sudden standstill with the state government ban on the nigh movement of commercial motorcyclists popularly known Okada, the virgin city of Yanagoa in Bayelsa State is bubbling with visitors and residents alike having a swell time at different parts of the City.

 

          From exactly 7pm, when many civil servants and other traders have finished the day’s work, the Yenagoa town, aided by the well planned streetlights constructed by the federal and state government open for nightlife to begin. At least the issue of transportation has contributed in no small measure to those boisterous activities.

 

In Yenagoa town, a non-car owner is assured of Okada transportation to any part of the town. In one of such occasions an Okada passenger could even go as far as hiring the cyclist’s service throughout the night.

 

           Celebrity  news checks reveals that fun seekers besiege most parts of the town. At every area, from the Nbiama entrance into the city to the Opolo end of the town, owners of drinking parlors and pepper soup joints have not disappointed their customers.. Even some particularly spots like the Prince Night Club and the Laros drinking spot close to the Ingbogbo plaza, youths singing as one-man band aided by a keyboard creates unlimited fun.

 

          One of those youths is a self acclaimed reggae star of Ijaw extraction known as “AJ” short form for Ajegunle. According to him, nightlife in Yenagoa is gaining more popularity due to the growing number of people moving into the city from other state. For him, he said the interest in the musical aspect of the scene is in-born and that very soon he would release his album into the national market.

 

          Celebrity news also observed that an added advantage to the growth in the nightlife in the Ijaw city of Bayelsa is the security of lives and properties. Some of the non-indigenes that Celebrity  news spoke with said though the issue of robbery attacks exist anywhere in the would, the night movements in Yenagoa is relatively safe.

 

A lady approached Miss Grace Ode said, when I got to Bayelsa from Lagos for my youth service, I thought this Yenagoa town which we hear about as a militant town would be unsafe but I was shocked that in the last few months, it is hard to hear of robbery or other vices. It is a nightclub owned by some Indigenes of the state and situated few meters away from the premises of the Nigerians Television Authority (NTA), and the newly commissioned headquarters of the Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ). The club, according to many of its frequents fans, is considered to have the same class as any other club in the country.

 

          A staff of the club simply known as Friday told the Celebrity news that though a commercial venture, the Night club has created an enabling environment for youths in the state to express themselves through dance. He said some of the youths have seen that violence and restiveness cannot solve the situation and have resorted to releasing some of the tensions through dance.

 

          However, in the opinion of Night clubbers all over the world, the emergence of secured nightlife also breeds prostitution. But in Yenagoa town, many of the club goers claimed that the advent of political activities and the perceived moral laxity of politicians in the state caused the growth in commercial sex trade.

 

While many of them also blamed the issue of poverty, misdirected wealth of the state as part of the reasons for the growth, others said the girls involved in the business considered the Yenagoa city as an emerging one like the Abuja city few years ago. Many of the girls are usually seen along the Continental Hotel in Ingbi road area of the town, while the cheaper ones are located in the shanty area of Hospital Road.

 

          Some of the male customers expressed some confidence that those involved in the trade are mostly from outside the state. According to them, the Ijaw girls involved are probably those staying in Port Harcourt and other parts of the country, while other girls involved are Igbo, Deltans and Edo girls. Celebrity news checks show that most those in the shanty area of the Hospital Road come from the tribes specified and those are purely commercial sex workers tendering to any category of men.

 

 But the other sets seen at some of the Nightclubs paying their ways tend to other class of politicians, professionals and other men capable of paying for their services. These set of perceived classy girls charge between N5, 000 to N10, 000 a night.

 

          Attempts by the celebrity news to engage some of the classy girls in a chat ended up negative as the girls demanded money but an Edo girl who refused to disclose her name said the activities of the girls in Yenagoa was further encouraged by politicians who dished out the money recklessly. She revealed that many of the girls travel every week from Lagos, Benin, Warri and other areas to make what they call “runs”. On her part she said the highest amount she has made during the trade was N200, 000 a night and it was given her by a White man.

 

          In some cases, it was gathered that some agents of politicians, both in government and outside, call in some of the girls and lodge them in hotels to entertain loyalists. In one of such they would be paid between N20, 000 and N100,000, “Bayelsa good, “she said. Irrespective of the moral question raised by the growth in night life in Yenagoa city, many of the residents said it has increased commercial activities and attracted increased empowerment for youths and women that are interested in starting some form of trading in drinks and other things needed by male and female fun seekers at night.

         The People of  Ekpshi area   of Yanogoa   last week  were faced with the most terrible and fearful sight that has ever befallen their eyes in all their years of existence when a supposed mad woman who had been roaming the streets of Calabar for some time was caught with fresh human skull.

               The mad woman who speaks over ten  languages has been known to be patrolling the vicinity of  Yanoagoa for some weeks now with no one knowing exactly when or where she came from as she was just seen around.

    The discovery of a human skull in the bag been carried around by the woman came to light when some children who normally sing and run after the mad woman saw blood dripping of the sack the supposed mad woman was carrying and their shout led many matured adult to accost the mad woman about the flow of fresh blood from her load, the woman initially pretended to be on the aggressive side so as to evade the search of her load but when the crowd become daring and many she was forced to succumbed and it was a shocking people that saw staring them three fresh human skull.

           After several beatings the supposed mad woman later confessed that she wasn’t truly mad but just going around as a mad woman so as to hoodwink people from knowing her true business but before the crowd could make her confess so as to set her ablaze men of the Nigeria Police Force came on a rescue mission with the intent of carrying out detail and more comprehensive investigations on how she came about the skulls found with her.

HOW STERLING BANK MANAGER INNOCENT PAUL STOLE N220MIL CUSTOMERS MONEY IN ABUJA

---Used his position as their accounting officer

-----Bank sheilds him from prosecution and refuses to refund stolen money

For many Abuja residents who banked with the Garki Branch of the Sterling Bank, especially those who had Innocent Paul as their accounting officer, it has been a world of betrayal and perplexion in the last six months or so. They had trusted the sytem, given money to Innocent Paul, allowed him to have access to their account and in a few instances given hin directives on movement of money from their account with Sterling bank to other accounts. But that was their undoing as the man they trusted ended up stealing their money. Innocent might have looked Innocent but he was not in any way Innocent when it came to stealing depositors’ money especially those who him he handled their accounts and who reposed trust in him.

Some lost as much as twenty million Naira others were lucky as they lost lesser amount. A particular lady lost 8million Naira while a seventy something year old widow lost one hundred thousand Naira. Curiously, the stealing did not take a short while as the guy was alleged to have done it over a long period of time.

Sources gathered that what he did was that he abused his personal contact with the customers so that when they asked him to help pay money into their account, he diverted such money and when they raised an eyebrow he told them that he had invested the money in a mortgage business. He would plead that they should give him a short while so that he could get the money back only for him to look for other customers who fall victim to use their money to pay the earlier ones.

In a couple of cases customers who had used him to withdraw money from their accounts without recourse to their cheque books were also swindled as Inocent Paul used the opportunity to clean their accounts. What baffled many of the customers was the fact that such a crime could be committed without his bossses in the bank being involved or being in the know as the bank now claims. Many of the customers have also been asking where for the pictures and details of those who cashed money in their accounts if he claimed that he wasn’t the one who took their money.

The bank has been claiming that any customer who chose to deal with their accounting officer neglecting laid down banking rules has himslef or herself to blame. Some of the customers are on the verge of going to court, while others have accepted fate for the abuse of trust. Meanwhile the guy at the centre of teh whole scam is cololing his heels in Garki Police station according to sources, the bank officials decided that it was better the banker stayed with the police in the sense that his safety could not be guaranteed as death threats have been coming.

Based on this,  Innocent Paul who was only made an Assistant Maanger had to stay with Police till a few weeks ago when he was allegedly released and told to find a eway of ensuring that those after him do not get him as his life is definitely at risk. Before then, he was belived to have been with the Police for not less than six months without being cahrged to court. Meanwhile it was also gathered that he could not explain where all the money went to when he was arrested by the Police. It is widely believed that he had fallen victim of 419ners as he had nothing to show for the over Two Hundred and Twenty Million Naira that he stole from customers who trusted him with their money.

Despite teh uproar generated by the fraud, the Bank is keeping quiet. Indeed, we gathered that the reason why the bank has decided not to arrange an out of court settlement with any of the affected customers is the fact that this could mean paying as much as the whole 220 milion Naira and other charges for its carelessness and complacency with depositors’ money. Meanwhile it is presently facing a litany of suits in Abuja courts over the scandal.

Last year, the household of Bashorun Jide Omokore, the steel magnate, was thrown into an ecstatic mood when his young wife, Angela Ebagua, gave him his first daughter. Angela, an Executive Director in Access Bank, was delivered of a baby girl in a highbrow hospital in Las Vegas, USA. Since the baby arrived, the new mother has become so overjoyed. However, according to close sources, Obasanjo was said to have complained to some of his friends that Ajayi was shirking in his responsibility as the charge d affair of the expansive farm. It was when he became uncomfortable with the way his farm was being run that he decided to give Ajayi the boots. Before things generated to the present state, both men had enjoyed a cordial relationship. They were so close that Ajayi often represented the former president at family and public functions.

CAROLINE OLASEINDE DELIVERS TWINS

Lately, Caroline Olaseinde-Rhodes has become a scare fixture at society events.  The reason why there seems to be a gulf between her and her erstwhile, strong inclination to socialise, has to do with her new role as a mother. Caroline, a senior manager in ExxonMobile Oil, experienced the thrill of motherhood for the three years after her celebrated wedding to Captain Lanre Rhodes, a pilot. What makes the news more cheering is that she was blessed with a set of twins, at the age of 48. Predictably, her family and friends were so overwhelmed with joy when the girls arrived. Quite interestingly, Caroline and Lanre’s wedding plan was almost marred by a stiff opposition, mounted by Lanre’s first wife. But the couple went ahead with their plan, and eventually had their way. Caroline dropped her partying habit and settled down to being a dutiful wife to Lanre. And with the eventual arrival of her bundles of joy, Caroline is fast adjusting to her new role as a mother. Naturally, she is basking in the euphoria of being one as well.

ALAKE DARE IN DOUBLE ROMANCE

At 55, famous celebrity lady, Alake Dare has a look, which belies her age. She is blessed with a svelte frame and a lovely face to go with it. Invariably, she is faced with the challenge of keeping off her teeming male admirers who swarm around her like bees. Curiously though, Alake the younger sister of Erelu Ojuolape Ojora, is fond of telling her friends that marriage does not top the list of her priorities for now. She was once married to a businessman but the union, which produced three children crashed 15 years ago. A few years later, she became hopeful again, of getting married, when she became romantically involved with Fola, a former bank Managing Director and Vice-Presidential candidate.

However, Alake’s hope was dashed when Fola married a younger lady. However, she got over the emotional trauma, occasioned by this betrayal and invested her energy into taking good care of her children and running her business. Today, the lawyer trained is currently involved in a serious relationship with two male personalities. The first is Bode, a Lagos born politician who recently returned from where he had gone to serve a term. The other guy in Alake’s life is Foluso, a lanky and well loaded businessman. These two men are said to be rocking Alake’s life.

REKIYA ABACHA IS A MOTHER

Hajia Maryam Abacha, the widow of Nigeria’s dictator, General Sani Abacha has something to cheer about at the moment. Her last daughter, Rekiya was recently delivered of a baby girl in a Saudi Aradia hospital. The newest addition is the first child of Rekiya and her husband, Adamu. Predictably, since the baby arrived, Rekiya has become more occupied with her new role as a mother. A graduate of Bayero University, Kano, Rekiya, was once closely linked with Senator Saminu Turaki, the former governor of Jigawa State. She was reported to have settled for Adamu after suffering a couple of emotional heartbreaks.  

NKIRU OLUMIDE OJO JOINS AIRTEL

Barely a year after she resigned from Virgin Atlantic Airways, Nkiru Olumide Ojo has joined Bharti Airtel Nigeria, the telecomunication company formerly known as Zain. She heads the Brand and Communication department of the company. Armed with a fertile experience in marketing and communication, Nkiru had worked in several corporate organisations, among which are Virgin Nigeria Airways, CMC Connect and OliviaEthan Communications. She had her first degree in Marketing at the University of Calabar and a second degree from the Kingston University London.

TUNDUN ABIOLA EMBRACES CHRISTIANITY

Tundun Atta , the daughter of the late MKO Abiola and Chief(Mrs.) Adebisi Abiola, has reverted to the Christian faith. She has also dropped her Muslim name, Hawa for Victoria, a name she adopted at conversion. Sources who should know disclosed that Tundun’s decision in converting to Christianity was fired by her love for her husband, Shaka. It will be recalled that Tundun and Shaka got married in London in May 2009. Their marriage has since been blessed with a son. Tundun, who trained as a lawyer in the United Kingdom had worked in FRA Williams Chamber, Zain and she also worked as a legislative assistant to Senator Gbemisola Saraki
