SOCIETY RUNWAY
- ANGELA EBAGUA SAVOURS MOTHERHOOD
Last year, the household of Bashorun Jide Omokore, the steel magnate, was thrown into an ecstatic mood when his young wife, Angela Ebagua, gave him his first daughter. Angela, an Executive Director in Access Bank, was delivered of a baby girl in a highbrow hospital in Las Vegas, USA. Since the baby arrived, the new mother has become so overjoyed. And her joy is being shared by her friends and colleagues, who are ecstatic over the fact that Angela savoured the joy of motherhood for the first time at the age of 40. It is pertinent to add that, Angela kept away from public glare throughout the duration of her pregnancy. She was reported to have asked to be transferred to Ghana, where she headed the bank’s branch in Accra for some months. It will be recalled that in 2009, Angela formalized her age long affair with Omokore. The marriage ceremony, which took place in London, was conducted in a very discreet manner. It was a classy and exclusive affair with only 50 guests in attendance. Curiously though, rather than bear Omokore to portray her new marital status, Angela has resorted to adopting Jones, which is her husband’s middle name.

ANGELA ONYEADOR SERIOUSLY ILL
Few months after surviving a life-threatening illness, Angela Onyeador, the famous society lady has suffered a relapse. The consummate arts connoisseur is currently seeking medical treatment abroad. And this informs why she has been off the social radar in recent times. Angela, who held a special place in the life of the late Chuba Okadigo, the former Senate president, was reported to have been struck with a strange illness. The source of the ailment was attributed to the clash she had with her kinsmen over where to bury her elder sister, Stella Ojukwu, the former wife of Biafra warlord, Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu, who died early last year. The report even claimed that when Angela’s illness defiled medical cure, she had travelled to a country in Asia to seek for a cure. However, she returned from her trip and informed her friends that she was fully recovered from her illness. However, a couple of months ago, she took ill again and had to leave for abroad to seek for treatment. At the moment, Angela’s unsavoury challenge with her health has become a source of concern for her young Liberian lover, Captain Sam Mayson and her close friends.

BIYI BLAIZE RE-MARRIES
At last, Biyi Blaize, the popular Lagos socialite has outgrown his fear of getting married again. He has decided to settle down with Yinka, his lover of many years and mother of his son. Until recently, Biyi was based in America, where he relocated to after the crash of his marriage to Kemi Asemota. The marriage crashed over allegation of infidelity. Interestingly, Kemi, first daughter of Chief Sonny Asemota, the auto magnate, was hopeful of reconciling with her former husband. She even approached some of their friends and pleaded with them to settle the marital rift. However, Biyi was reported to have rebuffed such moves. Two years ago, when he relocated back to Nigeria, Biyi got romantically involved with quite a number of celebrity ladies. But it wasn’t long before he got tired of this lifestyle. And this prompted him to propose to his long standing girlfriend, Yinka, who was then based in London. The two have since settled down to life as a married couple.

BIG CHI ENJOYS LIFE IN RETIREMENT
Chinyere Ngonadi is one of the most celebrated female personalities within the Nigeria social circuit. This lady, who goes by the sobriquet, Big Chi, is a top official in the Nigeria Custom and Excise. For many years, she held sway in Tin Can, Apapa, Lagos. Big Chi was reported to have made quite a fortune during this period. Her closeness to Kofo Olugbesan, a former top official in the Custom, also helped to accelerate her rise within the force. Before she retired, Olugbesan, who was the highest female official in the Custom, was Big Chi’s god-mother. But somehow, some forces within Custom felt uncomfortable with Big Chi’s lifestyle, which was expressly portrayed through her large appetite for attending parties. Before long, this ‘cabal’ moved against her and ensured that she got demoted from her position. Big Chi was then moved from Lagos to Calabar, and this later affected her strong inclination to socialize. Subsequently, Big Chi resorted to retiring early, having found it hard to cope with her demotion. From what had been seen of her lately, she appears to be enjoying her life in retirement.

OBASANJO SACKS ASSOCIATE, TOKUNBO AJAYI
Nigeria’s former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has ended the erstwhile strong relationship that existed between him and Dr. Tokunbo Ajayi, his close associate. A few months ago, Ajayi’s appointment as Managing Director of Obasanjo Farms Limited, Ota was terminated by the septuagenarian. Although, the reason that led to Ajayi’s sack is somehow hazy, not a few people expressed their shock when the news flittered to the public. However, according to close sources, Obasanjo was said to have complained to some of his friends that Ajayi was shirking in his responsibility as the charge d affair of the expansive farm. It was when he became uncomfortable with the way his farm was being run that he decided to give Ajayi the boots. Before things generated to the present state, both men had enjoyed a cordial relationship. They were so close that Ajayi often represented the former president at family and public functions.

CAROLINE OLASEINDE DELIVERS TWINS
Lately, Caroline Olaseinde-Rhodes has become a scare fixture at society events.  The reason why there seems to be a gulf between her and her erstwhile, strong inclination to socialise, has to do with her new role as a mother. Caroline, a senior manager in ExxonMobile Oil, experienced the thrill of motherhood for the three years after her celebrated wedding to Captain Lanre Rhodes, a pilot. What makes the news more cheering is that she was blessed with a set of twins, at the age of 48. Predictably, her family and friends were so overwhelmed with joy when the girls arrived. Quite interestingly, Caroline and Lanre’s wedding plan was almost marred by a stiff opposition, mounted by Lanre’s first wife. But the couple went ahead with their plan, and eventually had their way. Caroline dropped her partying habit and settled down to being a dutiful wife to Lanre. And with the eventual arrival of her bundles of joy, Caroline is fast adjusting to her new role as a mother. Naturally, she is basking in the euphoria of being one as well.
